Probably not at the level of sophistication you're going for, but I'm currently attempting to use a flight software / embedded systems framework developed by NASA/JPL to monitor my tomato plants as if they were a swarm of satellites. Progress is slow, but I finally got their blinking led example to flash on a Raspberry Pi Pico W earlier today
Nice! When I used to live in Montana, my roommates and I hiked the Danny On trail that was paved with wild huckleberries. Ended up making some large smoothy bowls from all the huckleberries we picked
I have to make a wiki page on it eventually, but i want to make a “Surveying Bot” basically a Mars Rover type deal (but way simple power lol, Battery and/or Piston Engine, *not a radioisotope thermoelectric generator lol) that would
Scan and/or 360 Photo/Video the Landscape (akin to “Google Streetview” but also map the terrain)
Periodically Collect Soil Samples
Optionally could also add in Metal Detector and/or Ground Penetrating Radar Modules

You could send it out first in theory, but in some areas maybe a brush mower first, but you would send that out THEN all of the samples could be tested/sent off to a lab to be tested, and all that data goes into QGIS

So you stuff like planning what buildings to put where, stormwater prep, what to do for Soil Upgrading like you said, also stuff like Swales / Subsurface Ripping recommended placement
