DEV: Replace instances of Discourse.base_uri with Discourse.base_path
This is clearer because the base_uri is actually just a path prefix. This continues the work started in 555f467.

In short: with disable emails set to non-staff, email address change confirmation emails (those sent to the new address) are not sent for staff or admin members.
This was happening because we were looking up the staff user with the to_address of the email, but the to address was the new email address because we are sending a confirm email change email, and thus the user could not be found. We didn't need to do this anyway because we are passing the user into the Email::Sender class anyway.
* PERF: avoid lookbehinds when indexing search
Previously we used a `EmailCook.url_regexp` this regex used lookbehinds
Unfortunately certain strings could lead to pathological behavior causing
CPU to skyrocket and regex replace to take a very very long time.
EmailCook still needs a fix, but it is less urgent cause it already splits
to single lines. That said we will correct that as well in a seperate PR.
New implementation is far more naive and relies on the extra spaces search
indexer inserts.
When that site setting is enabled, the category counts (new/unread)
include the subcategory definition topics, but the topics aren't included
in the list. This fixes that discrepancy.
Previously, Jobs::EnqueueDigestEmails would enqueue a digest job for every user, even if there are no topics to send. The digest job would exit, no email would send, and last_emailed_at would not change. 30 minutes later, Jobs::EnqueueDigestEmails would run again and re-enqueue jobs for the same users.
120fa8ad introduced a temporary mitigation for this issue, by randomly selecting a subset of those users each time.
This commit adds a new `digest_attempted_at` column to the `user_stats` table. This column is updated every time a digest job completes for a user. Using this, we can avoid scheduling digest jobs for the same user every 30 minutes. This also removes the random user selection in 120fa8ad, and instead prioritizes users who had digests attempted the longest time ago.
To avoid blocking the sidekiq queue a limit of 10,000 digests per 30 minutes
is introduced.
This acts as a safety measure that makes sure we don't keep pouring oil on
a fire.
On multisites it is recommended to set the number way lower so sites do not
dominate the backlog. A reasonable default for multisites may be 100-500.
This can be controlled with the environment var

Previously when an admin user changed a user's email we assumed that they would need a password reset too because they likely did not have access to their account. This proved to be incorrect, as there are other reasons a user needs admin to change their email. This PR:
* Changes the admin change email for user flow so the user is sent an email to confirm the change
* We now record who the email change request was requested by
* If the requested by user is admin and not the user we note this in the email sent to the user
* We also make the confirm change email route open to anonymous users, so it can be clicked by the user even if they do not have access to their account. If there is a logged in user we make sure the confirmation matches the current user.
* FEATURE: Export the entire user profile as json, not just bio/website
* FEATURE: Add session log information to user export
Even though the columns are named 'auth_token' etc, the content is not actually usable to log into the forum with. Despite all that, it is still truncated for export, to avoid any 'token hash cracking' situations.
Allows site administrators to pick different fonts for headings in the wizard and in their site settings. Also correctly displays the header logos in wizard previews.
When enable_personal_messages was disabled, moderators could not see
the private messages for the "moderators" group. The link was displayed
on the client side, but the checks on the server side did not allow it.
Previously this site setting `embed unlisted` defaulted to false and
empty topics would be generated for embed, but those topics tend to take
up a lot of room on the topic lists.
This new default creates invisible topics by default until they receive
their first reply.
Previously, moving a category into another one, that already had a child category of that name (but with a non-conflicting slug) would cause a 500 error:

It now returns 422, and shows the same message as when you're renaming a category: "Category Name has already been taken".
UploadRecovery only worked on missing Upload records. Now it also works with existing ones that have an invalid_etag status.
The specs (first that test the S3 path) are a bit of stub-a-palooza, but that's how much this class interacts with the the outside world. 🤷♂️
Upload.secure_media_url? raised an exceptions when the URL was invalid,
which was a issue in some situations where secure media URLs must be
removed.
For example, sending digests used PrettyText.strip_secure_media,
which used Upload.secure_media_url? to replace secure media with
placeholders. If the URL was invalid, then an exception would be raised
and left unhandled.
Now instead in UrlHelper.rails_route_from_url we return nil if there is something wrong with the URL.

Error messages for exceeded rate limits and invalid parameters always used the English locale instead of the default locale or the current user's locale.
The download link on the lightbox for images was not downloading the image if the upload was marked secure, because the code in the upload controller route was not respecting the dl=1 param for force download.
This PR fixes this so the download link works for secure images as well as regular ligthboxed images.

When admin changes an email for a user, we were incorrectly sending the password reset email to the user's old address. Also the new email does not come into effect until the reset password process is done, so this PR adds some notes to the admin to make this clearer.
Extracted commonly used spec helpers into spec/support/uploads_helpers.rb, removed unused stubs and let definitions. Makes it easier to write new S3-related specs without copy and pasting setup steps from other specs.
The NewUserOfTheMonth badge is part of the Badges::GettingStarted group. This group is skipped in BadgeGranter if the user skips the new user tips. However, the NewUserOfTheMonth badge granter job does not account for this. Instead, it notifies the user they've received the badge even if they did not.
This commit introduces a simple fix to allow granting of this badge even to users who skipped the new user tips.
This allows administrators to stop automatic redirect to an external authenticator. It only takes effect when there is a single authentication method, and the site is login_required

Since 9e4ed03, moderators can view groups with visibility level set to "Group owners, members and moderators".
This fixes an issue where moderators can see the group in /g but then get a 404 when clicking on individual groups.
typographer can change " to ” leading to breakages in parser
At least codify this. Longer term we want to re-prioritize typographer so
it always runs after bbcode parsing.
Previously attributes such as `[test a='a"a' b="a'a"]` were not correctly
handled.
This amends the regex parser to ensure it correctly parses attributes
without breaking incorrectly on the first nested quote
To check if a post contains any embedded media, we look if the "image_sizes" attribute is present in the new post manager arguments.
We want to see one boxed links, but we only store the raw content of the post. To work around this, I extracted the onebox logic from the composer editor into a module.
With secure media and the UploadSecurity class, we need a nice way for plugins to register custom upload types that should be considered public and never secure.
We are making the changes from the PR #10563 the default behaviour. Now, if secure media is enabled, secure images will be embedded in emails by default instead of redacting them and displaying a message. This will be a nicer overall experience by default, and for forums that want to be super strict with redaction this setting can always be disabled.
Groups page was loading fields that are only used on the group show
page, so move those fields to the GroupShowSerializer.
Also only fetch the default category and tag notifications once.
This is intended for use by plugins which are building their own topic lists, and want to include PMs alongside regular topics (e.g. discourse-assign). It does not get used directly in core.
Overall stubs lead to long term instability, this helps stabilize them.
Also fixed flaky spec around plugin hooks.
It was relying you `.posts` on system_user which could be loaded already
and invalid. Instead we now load it by hand.
This PR removes the user reminder topic timers, because that system has been supplanted and improved by bookmark reminders. The option is removed from the UI and all existing user reminder topic timers are migrated to bookmark reminders.
Migration does this:
* Get all topic_timers with status_type 5 (reminders)
* Gets all bookmarks where the user ID and topic ID match
* Loops through the found topic timers
* If there is no bookmark for the OP of the topic, then we just create a bookmark with a reminder
* If there is a bookmark for the OP of the topic and it does **not** have a reminder set, then just
update it with the topic timer reminder
* If there is a bookmark for the OP of the topic with a reminder then just discard the topic timer
* Cancels all outstanding user reminder topic timers
* **Trashes (not deletes) all user reminder topic timers**
Notes:
* For now I have left the user reminder topic timer job class in place; this is so the jobs can be cancelled in the migration. It and the specs will be deleted in the next PR.
* At a later date I will write a migration to delete all trashed user topic timers. They are not deleted here in case there are data issues and they need to be recovered.
* A future PR will change the UI of the topic timer modal to make it look more like the bookmark modal.
Editing a post didn't update the `post_uploads` right away. Instead it relied on the `CookedPostProcessor`. This can lead to an inconsistent state if uploads are added or removed during an edit and, for some reason, the `ProcessPost` job doesn't run (successfully). This inconsistency leads to missing uploads, because the newly added uploads appear to be unused and will be deleted by the `CleanUpUploads` job. In addition to that, uploads, which got removed during the edit, appear to be still in use and won't be deleted by the background job.
This commit ensures that the `post_uploads` are updated during the edit without relying on a background job.
In some cases Discourse admins may opt for sessions not to persist when a
browser is closed.
This is particularly useful in healthcare and education settings where
computers are shared among multiple workers.
By default `persistent_sessions` site setting is enabled, to opt out you
must disable the site setting.
Currently, if a group's visibility is set to "Group owners, members" then the mods can't view those group pages. The same rule is applied for members visibility setting too.
This reverts commit 7fc7090. And fixed the spec test fails.
Moderators should not be able to see `UserSerializer#group_users` and `UserSerializer#second_factor_enabled` of other users.
Impact of leaking this is low because the information leaked is not
exploitable.
Currently, if a group's visibility is set to "Group owners, members" then the mods can't view those group pages. The same rule is applied for members visibility setting too.
After restoring a backup it takes up to 48 hours for uploads stored on S3 to appear in the S3 inventory. This change prevents alerts about missing uploads by preventing the EnsureS3UploadsExistence job from running in the first 48 hours after a restore. During the restore it deletes the count of missing uploads from the PluginStore, so that an alert isn't triggered by an old number.
We must guarantee that "rel=noopener" was set if "target=_blank" is present, which is not always the case for trusted users. Also, if the link contains the "nofollow" attribute, it has to have the "ugc" attribute as well.
If a user always read all group messages, we will never update the
`first_pm_unread_at` column since the previous query will not return the
group_user. Instead, we should update `first_pm_unread_at` to the
current timestamp if the user has read everything.

private messages will actually end up searching through all private
messages on the site.

This PR introduces a few important changes to secure media redaction in emails. First of all, two new site settings have been introduced:
* `secure_media_allow_embed_images_in_emails`: If enabled we will embed secure images in emails instead of redacting them.
* `secure_media_max_email_embed_image_size_kb`: The cap to the size of the secure image we will embed, defaulting to 1mb, so the email does not become too big. Max is 10mb. Works in tandem with `email_total_attachment_size_limit_kb`.
`Email::Sender` will now attach images to the email based on these settings. The sender will also call `inline_secure_images` in `Email::Styles` after secure media is redacted and attachments are added to replace redaction messages with attached images. I went with attachment and `cid` URLs because base64 image support is _still_ flaky in email clients.
All redaction of secure media is now handled in `Email::Styles` and calls out to `PrettyText.strip_secure_media` to do the actual stripping and replacing with placeholders. `app/mailers/group_smtp_mailer.rb` and `app/mailers/user_notifications.rb` no longer do any stripping because they are earlier in the pipeline than `Email::Styles`.
Finally the redaction notice has been restyled and includes a link to the media that the user can click, which will show it to them if they have the necessary permissions.

year ago and every time you generate the api docs with

of looking at it, so here is a fix for it.

This PR ensures that new bookmarks cannot be created for deleted posts and topics, and also makes sure that if a bookmark was created and then the topic deleted that the show topic page does not error from trying to retrieve the bookmark reminder at.
It is possible that a user could exist without an email, if so we should
not enqueue a job to download their gravatar.
This commit resolves this error that can occur:

This commit also fixes the original spec which actually was wrong. The
job never enqueued in the original spec and so the gravatar was never
actually updated and the test was checking if the two values were the
same, but they were both null and never updated, so of course they were
the same!
A new test has also been added to make sure the gravatar job isn't
enqueued when a user's email is missing.
DEV: add plugin hooks for silence message parameters
Allows plugins to add, and update extra silence message params for custom
i18n vars
Allows plugins to override system messages via `message_title` and
`message_raw` parameters. We can later expose these params where necessary via event
hooks. Expose the parameter for the on user_silenced trigger.
When a category is removed from `auto_watch_category` we are removing
CategoryUser. However, there are still TopicUser with notification level
set to `watching` which was inherited from Category.
We should move them back to `regular` unless they were modified by a user.

Previously in some cases the test suite could fail due to a bad entry in
redis from previous tests
This ensures the correct cache is expired when needed
Additionally improves performance of the redis check
"en_US" doesn't contain most of the translations, so it falls back to "en". But that behavior stopped translation overrides to work for pluralized strings in "en_US", because it relies on existing translations. This fixes it by looking up the existing translation in all fallback locales.
This is in preparation for improvements to the user archive export data.
Some refactors happened along the way, including calling the different _export methods 'components' of the zip file.
Additionally, make the test for post export much more comprehensive.

This commit adds a new site setting "allowed_onebox_iframes". By default, all onebox iframes are allowed. When the list of domains is restricted, Onebox will automatically skip engines which require those domains, and use a fallback engine.
Originally disabled in 0c0192e. Upload specs now use separate paths for each spec worker.
Fixes an issue in UploadRecovery#recover_from_local – it didn't take into account the testing infix (e.g. test_0) in the uploads/tombstone paths.
With the addition of `PostSearchData#private_message`, a partial
index consisting of only search data from regular posts can be created.
The partial index helps to speed up searches on large sites since PG
will not have to do an index scan on the entire search data index which
has shown to be a bottle neck.
These fields are required when using the UI and if `suspend_until`
params isn't used the user never is actually suspended so we should
require these fields when suspending a user.
This commit is addressing an issue where it is possible that there could
be multiple topic timer jobs running to close a topic or a weird race
condition state causing a topic that was just closed to be re-opened.
By removing the logic from the Topic Timer model into the Topic Timer
controller endpoint we isolate the code that is used for setting an
auto-open or an auto-close timer to just that functionality making the
topic timer background jobs safer if multiple are running.
Possibly in the future if we would like this logic back in the model a
refactor will be needed where we actually pass in the auto-close and
auto-open action instead of mixing it with the close and open
action that is currently being passed to the controller.
When someone wants to add > 1000 users at once they will hit a timeout.
Therefore, we should introduce limit and inform the user when limit is exceeded.

The filter noops if an incorrect username is passed. This filter is not
exposed as part of the UI but is only used when an admin transitions
from a search within a user's personal messages to the full page search.

Renamed from `private_messages` to `personal_messages` without
deprecation because the `private_messages` advanced search filter never
worked in the first place when it was implemented.
This also ensures that restoring a backup works when it was created with the wrong upload paths in the time between ab4c0a4970 (shortly after v2.6.0.beta1) and this fix.
This was likely introduced with the refactor to make ColorSchemeColor a database object. Add a test so this doesn't happen again.
Also test other basics of the WizardSerializer.
For some reason, the .as_json left Ruby objects in; I solved this with a round trip through JSON during the test.
Because we allow all the other flag types on a deleted post we should be
able to send a pm to the user letting them know why we deleted their
post.

Like "default watching" and "default tracking" categories option now the "regular" categories support is added. It will be useful for sites that are muted by default. The user option will be displayed only if `mute_all_categories_by_default` site setting is enabled.
* FIX: Unlike own posts on ownership transfer
If a user has liked a post that has passed the
`post_undo_action_window_mins` system setting window and you transfer ownership
of that post to that user you will be the owner of a post that you have
liked, but cannot unlike resulting in a weird UI behavior. This commit
fixes this issue.
The existing tests didn't check for the timeout window for unliking
posts so I added that in.
I couldn't find a good way to do this logic inside of the guardian class
so rather than duplicating behavior of the `PostActionDestroyer` class
inside of the `PostOwnerChanger` I decided to pass in a "bypass"
variable that could be used to check if the calling class is the
'post_owner_changer' and bypass the guardian instead. I went this route
because the guardian `can_delete_post_action` method has no way of
distinguishing how to allow a user to be able to unlike their own posts
after the timeout window but only on a post owner change.

Themes can now declare custom colors that get compiled in core's color definitions stylesheet, thus allowing themes to better support dark/light color schemes.
For example, if you need your theme to use tertiary for an element in a light color scheme and quaternary in a dark scheme, you can add the following SCSS to your theme's `color_definitions.scss` file:

And then use the `--mytheme-tertiary-or-quaternary` variable as the color property of that element. There is an fk to user_profile that can make destroying uploads fail
if they happen to be set as user profile.
This ensures we clear this information when destroying uploads.
There are more relationships, but this makes some more progress.
Convert all IMAP logging to write to a database table for easier inspection. These logs are cleaned up daily if they are > 5 days old.
Logs can easily be watched in dev by setting DISCOURSE_DEV_LOG_LEVEL=\"debug\" and running tail -f development.log | grep IMAP
It's possible that the original topic image is broken in some form, so
we shouldn't try and generate a topic thumbnail for it. The fix will
prevent the generate_topic_thumbnails job being enqueued every time the
topic is viewed.
For sites that are configured to mute some or all categories and tags
for users by default, groups can now be configured to set members'
notification level to normal from the group manage UI.

Previously we did an early return if either SiteSetting.tagging_enabled or SiteSetting.allow_staff_to_tag_pms was false when updating the email on the IMAP server -- however this also stopped us from archiving or deleting emails if either of these were disabled.
The category model already has a default value for `color` and
`text_color` so they don't need to be required via the API. The ember UI
already requires that colors be selected.
The name of the category also doesn't need to be required when updating
the category either because we are already passing in the id for the
category we want to change.
These changes improve the api experience because you no longer have to
lookup the category name, color, or text color before updating a single
category attribute. When creating a category the name is still required.

This fixes an issue where a non-default theme set to use the base color
scheme (i.e. the theme had an empty `color_scheme_id`) was loading the
default theme's color scheme instead.

I have a theory that it might be related to instance variables in before block
Adds functionality to reflect topic delete in Discourse to IMAP inbox (Gmail only for now) and reflecting Gmail deletes in Discourse.
Adding lots of tests, various refactors and code improvements.
When Discourse topic is destroyed in PostDestroyer mark the topic incoming email as imap_sync: true, and do the opposite when post is recovered.
The `/directory_items` route needs to have a .json url, but the rails
url helper `_path` doesn't return the format of the route.
I tried passing in a format options to `directory_items_path`. Which
works in the rails console

but when I added that some logic to the controller it comes out as

/directory_items?format=json&page=1
```
(which is actually how I expect it to work based on how you pass in the
format param). Anyways, because I couldn't figure out how to pass a
format to the `_path` helper I just used URI.parse to append `.json`
manually.
When we run the S3 inventory, mark uploads that exist as verified true, those that don't as verified false, and uploads not included in the check / not yet checked as verified nil.
The UI prevents users from trying to create tags on topics when they
don't have permission, but if you are trying to add tags to a topic via
the API and you don't have permission before this change it would
silently succeed in creating the topic, but it wouldn't have any tags.
Now a 422 error will be returned with an error message when trying to
create a topic with tags when tagging is disabled or you don't have
enough trust level to add tags to a topic.

Normally, secure media urls are linked like `/secure-media-uploads/...`. In this case, uploads were already being linked correctly.
But sometimes (e.g. when pulling hotlinked onebox images) secure media is referenced with a full domain name (`//example.com/secure-media-uploads`). This commit ensures that those uploads are also linked correctly.
When a tab is open but left unattended for a while, the red, green, and blue
pills tend to go out of sync.
So whevener we open the notifications menu, we sync up the notification count
(eg. blue and green pills) with the server.
However, the reviewable count (eg. the red pill) is not a notification and
is located in the hamburger menu. This commit adds a new route on the server
side to retrieve the reviewable count for the current user and a ping
(refreshReviewableCount) from the client side to sync the reviewable count
whenever they open the hamburger menu.
REFACTOR: I also refactored the hamburger-menu widget code to prevent repetitive uses
of "this.".
PERF: I improved the performance of the 'notify_reviewable' job by doing only 1 query
to the database to retrieve all the pending reviewables and then tallying based on the
various rights.
Similar to `advanced_filter` I introduced `advanced_order`.
I needed a new option because default orders are evaluated after advanced_filter so I couldn't use it.
Also, that part is a little bit more generic

* FEATURE: set notification levels when added to a group
This feature allows admins and group owners to define default
category and tag tracking levels that will be applied to user
preferences automatically at the time when users are added to the
group. Users are free to change those preferences afterwards.
When removed from a group, the user's notification preferences aren't
changed.
In the near future, we will be swtiching to PG headlines to generate the
search blurb. As such, we need to replace audio and video links in the
raw data used for headline generation. This also means that we avoid
replacing links each time we need to generate the blurb.
Previously we would unconditionally keep all images downloaded via pull_hotlinked_images, even if they are later removed from the post. This commit removes that logic, and relies on the existing link_post_uploads process to pick up the downloaded images in `cooked`. Specs are added to ensure this is working correctly for regular hotlinked images, and for oneboxes.
This commit should cause no functional change
- Split into functions to avoid deep nesting
- Register custom field type, and remove manual json parse/serialize
- Recover from deleted upload records
Also adds a test to ensure pull_hotlinked_images redownloads secure images only once
The assign plugin is one of two situations where a post can be both a whisper and a small-action. Check the action_code field to filter out small-actions.

A first step to adding automatic dark mode color scheme switching. Adds a new SCSS file at `color_definitions.scss` that serves to output all SCSS color variables as CSS custom properties. And replaces all SCSS color variables with the new CSS custom properties throughout the stylesheets.
This is an alpha feature at this point, can only be enabled via console using the `default_dark_mode_color_scheme_id` site setting.
Apparently latest.json and latest.rss are not routed to the same
controller methods. This change allows for any passed in query
parameters to actually be applied to the rss route.

Currently, we only reset `email_digests`, `email_level` and `email_messages_level` when the user wants to unsubscribe from all email.
`mailing_list_mode` should be reset as well
Adds a imap_group_id column to IncomingEmail to deal with an issue where we were trying to update emails in the mailbox, calling IncomingEmail.where(imap_sync: true). However UID and UIDVALIDITY could be the same across accounts. So if group A used IMAP details for Gmail account A, and group B used IMAP details for Gmail account B, and both tried to sync changes to an email with UID of 3 (e.g. changing Labels), one account could affect the other. This even applied to Archiving!

When inviting a user to a PM return a message that says, "Sorry, this
user can't be invited." if they have been muted or are not in a users
allowed pm users list.

For the following conditions, the TopicUser.bookmarked column was not updated correctly:
* When a bookmark was auto-deleted because the reminder was sent
* When a bookmark was auto-deleted because the owner of the bookmark replied to the topic
This adds another migration to fix the out-of-sync column and also some refactors to BookmarkManager to allow for more of these delete cases. BookmarkManager is used instead of directly destroying the bookmark in PostCreator and BookmarkReminderNotificationHandler.
This changes PG text search to only match the given title against
lexemes that are formed from the title. Likewise, the given raw will
only be matched against lexemes that are formed from the post's raw.
If a user posted a topic and Akismet decided it was spam, the topic gets deleted and put into the review queue. If a category moderator for that category marked the post/topic as "Not Spam" the topic did not get recovered correctly because Guardian.new(@user).can_review_topic?(@post.topic) returned false incorrectly because the topic was deleted.
We do prefix matching in search so there is no need to inject the extra
terms.

There was a bug that even when `email_digest` was set to false but
`digest_after_minutes` was positive, we were not displaying correct
status.
In addition, the message is improved when the user is unsubscribed +
unsubscribe from all is hidden.
This reverts commit 84de643c04.
Users are using the search endpoint as public API even though it is
meant to be internal. Revert for now while we figure out the path
forward on providing a more stable API to end users.
This adds a special filter to topic lists that will filter to tracked and
watched categories.
To use it you can visit:

`https://sitename/unread?filter=tracked`
and so on
Note, we do not include explicitly tracked and watched topics **outside** of
the tracked categories and tags.
We can consider a `filter=all_tracked` to cover this edge case.
Before this commit if you were bulk removing group members and passed in
a user who wasn't currently a member of that group the whole request
would fail. This change will return a 200 response now listing the users
that were removed and those that were skipped.
To reproduce the initial issue here:
1. A user makes a post, which discourse-akismet marks as spam (I cheated and called `DiscourseAkismet::PostsBouncer.new.send(:mark_as_spam, post)` for this)
2. The post lands in the review queue
3. The category the topic is in has a `reviewable_by_group_id`
4. A user in that group goes and looks at the Review queue, decides the post is not spam, and clicks Not Spam
5. Weird stuff happens because the `PostDestroyer#recover` method didn't handle this (the user who clicked Not Spam was not the owner of the post and was not a staff member, so the post didn't get un-destroyed and post counts didn't get updated)
Now users who belong to a group who can review a category now have the ability to recover/delete posts fully.
This adds an option to "delete on owner reply" to bookmarks. If you select this option in the modal, then reply to the topic the bookmark is in, the bookmark will be deleted on reply.
This PR also changes the checkboxes for these additional bookmark options to an Integer column in the DB with a combobox to select the option you want.
The use cases are:
* Sometimes I will bookmark the topics to read it later. In this case we definitely don’t need to keep the bookmark after I replied to it.
* Sometimes I will read the topic in mobile and I will prefer to reply in PC later. Or I may have to do some research before reply. So I will bookmark it for reply later.
* FEATURE: Allow List for PMs
This feature adds a new user setting that is disabled by default that
allows them to specify a list of users that are allowed to send them
private messages. This way they don't have to maintain a large list of
users they don't want to here from and instead just list the people they
know they do want. Staff will still always be able to send messages to
the user.
* Update PR based on feedback
In 1bd8a075, a hidden site setting was added that causes Email::Styles
to treat its input as a complete document in all cases.
This commit enables that setting by default.
Some tests were removed that were broken by this change. They tested the
behaviour of applying email styles to empty strings. They weren't useful
because:
* Sending empty email is not something we ever intend to do,
* They were testing incidental behaviour - there are lots of
valid ways to process the empty string,
* Their intent wasn't clear from their descriptions,
It seems there was a discrepancy in that background images were attached
to the full slug category class: `category-:slug-:id` and our body class
only had `category-:slug`.
This fix adds support for both formats.

It's possible through an import or other means to have images larger
than the current max allowed image size in the db.
If this happens the thumbnail generation job will keep running
indefinitely trying to download a new copy of the original but
discarding it because it is larger than the max_file_size eventually
causing this error
`Job exception: undefined method `path' for nil:NilClass`
because the newly downloaded image is now nil.
This fix stops the enqueuing of the `GenerateTopicThumbnails` job for
all images that happen to be larger than the max image size.
Considering document length in search introduced too much variance in
our search results such that it makes certain searches better but at the
same time made certain searches worst. Instead, we want to have a more
determistic way of ranking search so that it is easier to reason about
why a post is rank higher in search than another.
The long term plan to tackle repeated terms is to restrict the number of
positions for a given lexeme in our search index.
Follow up to d8c796bc4.
Note that his change increases query time by around 40% in the following
benchmark against `dev.discourse.org` but this is a tradeoff that has to be taken so that relevance
search is accurate.

On large topics, the cost of sending the entire post ID list back over to the database is signficant. Just have the DB recalculate the list of visible posts instead.
Category and tag hashtags used to be handled differently even though
most of the code was very similar. This design was the root cause of
multiple issues related to hashtags.
This commit reduces the number of requests (just one and debounced
better), removes the use of CSS classes which marked resolved hashtags,
simplifies a lot of the code as there is a single source of truth and
previous race condition fixes are now useless.
It also includes a very minor security fix which let unauthorized users
to guess hidden tags.
When creating a bookmark reminder that deletes the bookmark on reminder, if the user clicked on the notification and got taken to the post in the topic the bookmark icon still showed as blue with the reminder clock indicator. This was because the response JSON for reloading a topic post was not including the bookmark attributes, not even the bookmarked boolean.
We now return the correct attributes in the serializer, and if bookmarked is false we clear all the bookmark related attributes on the post for the notification to make sure nothing of the old bookmark remains in the UI.
This was only a problem if the user did not refresh the app completely inbetween setting the reminder and receiving the notification.
It's a little awkward to test constants by re-assigning them so
I've added a new parameter to `Discourse.find_compatible_resource`
which can be used by tests.
Instead of loading all of the user bookmarks using all the post IDs in a topic, load all the bookmarks for a user using the topic ID. This eliminates a costly WHERE ID IN query.
We have a couple of examples of enormous amounts of text being entered in the name column of bookmarks. This is not desirable...it is just meant to be a short note / reminder of why you bookmarked this.
This PR caps the column at 100 characters and truncates existing names in the database to 100 characters.

versions.
Supports a .discourse-compatibility file in the root of plugins and themes that
list out a plugin's compatibility with certain discourse versions:

This ensures older Discourse installs are able to find and install older
versions of plugins without intervention, through the manifest only.
It iterates through the versions in descending order. If the current Discourse
version matches an item in the manifest, it checks out the listed plugin target.
If the Discourse version is greater than an item in the manifest, it checks out
the next highest version listed in the manifest.
If no versions match, it makes no change.
If any value, including nil, is passed in as an argument the default
won't be set, so we need to handle when a non-Array value is passed in
to the `generate_thumbnails!` method.
This is a very expensive process, and it should only be required in exceptional circumstances. It is possible to run a similar recovery using `rake uploads:recover` (5284d41a8e/lib/upload_recovery.rb (L135-L184))
`OptimizedImage#filesize` calls `Discourse.store.download` with an OptimizedImage as an argument. It would in turn attempt to call `#original_filename` and `#secure?` on that object. Both would fail as these methods do not exist on OptimizedImage, only on Upload. We didn't know about these issues because:
1. `#calculate_filesize` is not called often, because the filesize is saved on OptimizedImage creation, so it's used mostly for manual filesize recalculation
2. we were using `rescue nil` which swallows all errors
Previously, while generating the topic page's canoncial url we used the current post number. It will create invalid canonical path if the topic has whsiper posts. Now we only taking the visible posts for current page index calculation.
The previous fix (f43c0a5d85) wasn't working for images that were already uploaded.
The "metadata" (eg. 'for_*' and 'secure' attributes) were not added to existing uploads.
Also used 'Upload.get_from_url' is the admin/site_setting controller to properly retrieve
an upload from its URL.
Fixed the Upload::URL_REGEX to use the \h (hexadecimal) for the SHA

When rebaking a post we were invalidating _regular_ oneboxes but not inline oneboxes.

#b19dcac2 improved the serializer so it sends default notification
levels to users to work around cases where a category edit would
would result in clients being left with invalid notification state
Unfortunately this did not address the root issue.
When we edit categories we publish state to multiple users this
means that the serializer is executed unscoped with no user.
The client already handles this case per:
dcad720a4c/app/assets/javascripts/discourse/app/models/site.js (L119-L119)
If a property is not shipped to it, it will leave it alone on the
existing category.
This fix ensures that these wide category info updates do not
include notification state to avoid corruption of local state.
When linking to a topic in the same Discourse, we try to onebox the link to show the title
and other various information depending on whether it's a "standard" or "inline" onebox.
However, we were not properly detecting links to topics that had no slugs (eg. https://meta.discourse.org/t/1234).
This is causing issues when purging old users, if they are set up in the
exact condition where they will be demoted into another group, but also
do not have a primary email.
* FEATURE: Don't display muted/ignored users under "who liked"
Previously, if you clicked on the heart icon below a post
it would show you the avatar for a user even if you ignored or muted
them.
This commit will instead display a (?) icon. The count of likes will
remain correct, but you needn't be reminded of the person you
preferred not to see.

The `EXECUTE FUNCTION` syntax for `CREATE TRIGGER` statements was introduced in PostgreSQL 11. We need to replace `EXECUTE FUNCTION` with `EXECUTE PROCEDURE` in order to be able to restore backups created with PG12 on PG10.
Fixed bugs, added specs, extracted the upload downsizing code to a class, added support for non-S3 setups, changed it so that images aren't downloaded twice.
This code has been tested on production and successfully resized ~180k uploads.

This came in as a request on meta to include the raw field in the post
webhook serializer.

Including this field can prevent needing to make a 2nd API request to
get the raw field of a post.
It would be handy down the road if we updated the webhook ui to specify
fields or arguments that you wanted to be included in the serialized
data, but most requests I've seen to update the serializers have been
valid requests that are good to add anyways, so I don't think we have
reached that point yet.
FIX: prevent re-flagging when we have reviewed flags before
Fixes an edge case where a review can be reflagged when:
User flags as inappropriate.
Moderator rejects the flag.
Another user re-flags the post as spam.
Before, anyone was able to re-flag as inappropriate despite it being flagged
previously. With this, users are unable to re-flag for the same reason
regardless of reviewable status.
This test lasted about 7 years prior to it becoming flaky.
Today ... for whatever reason the test suite created 100 users
prior to running this spec. So the new user becomes user id 101
And... lo and behold:

Moves the most important checks into a linter. It gets executed by Lefthook as well as the docker rake task and Github actions. Doing those checks in rspec takes too long and it produces errors when the discourse:test Docker image contains old, invalid locale files.
Discourse needs a bunch of data preloaded before it can start up.
Normally we throw blobs of this into the HTML document that is requested
but in some cases that's awkward to retrieve.
For example with Ember CLI you have a separate javascript application
that needs to make its own HTML.
This API endpoint returns a JSON object with all the data Discourse needs to
bootstrap and start up.
In some restricted setups all JS payloads need tight control.
This setting bans admins from making changes to JS on the site and
requires all themes be whitelisted to be used.
There are edge cases we still need to work through in this mode
hence this is still not supported in production and experimental.
Use an example like this to enable:

By default this feature is not enabled and no changes are made.
One exception is that default theme id was missing a security check
this was added for correctness.
If `default email digest frequency` was set to "Never", users would get
a `digest_after_minutes` set to `nil` which triggered this error
in the logs if/when the site eventually changed that setting and
enabled digests:

This additional notification should help admins keep their Discourse safe and secure.
Previously the pull hotlinked images job was skipped after system edits. This ensured that we never had an infinite loop of system-edit/pull-hotlinked/system-edit/pull-hotlinked etc.
A side effect was that edits made by system for any other reason (e.g. API, removing full quotes) would prevent pulling hotlinked images. This commit removes the system edit check, and replaces it with another method to avoid an infinite job scheduling loop.
Hostname can vary per-site on a multisite cluster, so this change requires converting the compiler_version from a constant into a class method which is evaluated at runtime. The value is stored in the theme DistributedCache, so performance impact should be negligible.
We previously did not account for completely untagged topics when
looking at muted tags, this caused new/unread counts to be off if
1. You had muted tags
2. You had an unread/new topic
3. This topic had no tags
This feature allows certain plugins to output tag information
to topic tracking state, this allows per tag stats which can be
used by sidebars and other plugins that need per tag stats

When running jobs in tests, we use `Jobs.run_immediately!`. This means that jobs are run synchronously when they are enqueued. Jobs sometimes enqueue other jobs, which are also executed synchronously. This means that the outermost job will block until the inner jobs have finished executing. In some cases (e.g. process_post with hotlinked images) this can lead to a deadlock.
This commit changes the behavior slightly. Now we will never run jobs inside other jobs. Instead, we will queue them up and run them sequentially in the order they were enqueued. As a whole, they are still executed synchronously. Consider the example

In some cases, between Discourse forums the hostname of a URL could match if they are hosting S3 files on the same bucket but the S3 bucket path might not. So e.g. https://testbucket.somesite.com/testpath/some/file/url.png vs https://testbucket.somesite.com/prodpath/some/file/url.png. So has_been_uploaded? was returning true for the second URL, even though it may have been uploaded on a different Discourse forum.
This is a very rare case but must be accounted for, because this impacts UrlHelper.is_local which mistakenly thinks the file has already been downloaded and thus allows the URL to be cooked, where we want to return the full URL to be downloaded using PullHotlinkedImages.

Signed S3 URLs are valid for 15 seconds, so we can safely allow the browser to cache them for 10 seconds. This should help with large numbers of requests when composing a post with many images.
PG already handles English stop words, the list in cppjieba is
bigger than the list PG uses, which in turn causes confusion cause
words such as "volume" are stripped using cppijieba stop word list
We will follow up with another commit here to apply the Chinese
word stopwords, but for now to eliminate the confusion we are
skipping applying the stopword list when the dictionary in PG is
in English.

This commit prevents a 500 error from occurring if someone is trying to
setup their discourse instance as a sso provider and they don't pass in
a `return_sso_url` in their payload.
We were getting errors like this in Reviewables in some cases:

The problem that was making everything go boom is that plugins can add their own custom filters for Reviewables. If one is doing an INNER JOIN on topics, which has its own category_id column, we would get the above AmbiguousColumn error. The solution here is to just make all references to the reviewable columns in the list_for and viewable_by code prefixed by the table name e.g. reviewables.category_id.

Previously we only changed sequence on ownership change, this
cause a race condition between tabs where user could type for a
long time without being warned of an out of date draft.
This change is a radical change and we should watch closely.
Code was already in place to track sequence on the client so no
changes are needed there.
For pages that do not specify canonical URL we will default to `https://SITENAME/PATH`.
This ensures that if a URL is crawled on the CDN the search ranking will transfer to the main site.

This change ensures the we have special behavior for Googlebot
where we allow indexing, but block the actual indexing via
X-Robots-Tag
Expand SiteSetting.allow_index_in_robots_txt so it also adds a
noindex header if set to false.
This makes sure that nothing is indexed even if it somehow reaches
Google.
1. Total 6 attempts per day per user
2. Total of 5 per unique email/login that is not found per hour
3. If an admin blocks an IP that IP can not request a reset
There were two constants here, `INLINE_ONEBOX_LOADING_CSS_CLASS` and
`INLINE_ONEBOX_CSS_CLASS` that were both longer than the strings they
were DRYing up: `inline-onebox-loading` and `inline-onebox`
I normally appreciate constants, but in this case it meant that we had
a lot of JS imports resulting in many more lines of code (and CPU cycles
spent figuring them out.)
It also meant we had an `.erb` file and had to invoke Ruby to create the
JS file, which meant the app was harder to port to Ember CLI.
I removed the constants. It's less DRY but faster and simpler, and
arguably the loss of DRYness is not significant as you can still search
for the `inline-onebox-loading` and `inline-onebox` strings easily if
you are refactoring.
We now show an options gear icon next to the bookmark name.
When expanded we show the "delete bookmark when reminder sent" option. The value of this checkbox is saved in local storage for the user.
If this is ticked, when a reminder is sent for the bookmark the bookmark itself is deleted. This is so people can use the reminder functionality by itself.
Also remove the blue alert reminder section from the "Edit Bookmark" modal as it just added clutter, because the user can already see they had a reminder set:
Adds a default false boolean column `delete_when_reminder_sent` to bookmarks.
Locale files get precompiled after deployment and they contained translations from the `default_locale`. That's especially bad in multisites, because the initial `default_locale` is `en_US`. Sites where the `default_locale` isn't `en_US` could see missing translations. The same thing could happen when users are allowed to chose a different locale.
This change simplifies the logic by not using the `default_locale` in the locale chain. It always falls back to `en` in case of missing translations.
The failover spec is very fragile and tests specific implementation

We rely on a different script during the build process to test
failover operates correctly
We were sharing `Discourse` both as an application object and a
namespace which complicated things for Ember CLI. This patch
moves raw templates into `__DISCOURSE_RAW_TEMPLATES` and adds
a couple helper methods to create/remove them.
This introduces new APIs for obtaining optimized thumbnails for topics. There are a few building blocks required for this:
- Introduces new `image_upload_id` columns on the `posts` and `topics` table. This replaces the old `image_url` column, which means that thumbnails are now restricted to uploads. Hotlinked thumbnails are no longer possible. In normal use (with pull_hotlinked_images enabled), this has no noticeable impact
- A migration attempts to match existing urls to upload records. If a match cannot be found then the posts will be queued for rebake
- Optimized thumbnails are generated during post_process_cooked. If thumbnails are missing when serializing a topic list, then a sidekiq job is queued
- Topic lists and topics now include a `thumbnails` key, which includes all the available images:

Remember that these are generated asynchronously, so your theme should include logic to fallback to other available thumbnails if your requested size has not yet been generated
- Two new raw plugin outlets are introduced, to improve the customisability of the topic list. `topic-list-before-columns` and `topic-list-before-link`
This ensures that at a minimum you are notified once a day of
repeat edits by the same user.
Long term we may consider winding this down to say 1 hour or
making it configurable.
Due to a refactor in e90f9e5cc4 we stopped notifying on edits if
a user liked a post and then edited.
The like could have happened a long time ago so this gets extra
confusing.
This change makes the suppression more deliberate. We only want
to suppress quite/link/mention if the user already got a reply
notification.
We can expand this suppression if it is not enough.
* When hovering over the bookmark icon for a post, show the name of the bookmark at the end of the tooltip _if_ it has been set.
* Order bookmarks by `updated_at DESC` in the user list and show that instead of created at.

TLDR; this commit vastly improves how whitespaces are handled when converting from HTML to Markdown.
It also adds support for converting HTML <tables> to markdown tables.
The previous 'remove_whitespaces!' method was traversing the whole HTML tree and used a heuristic to remove
leading and trailing whitespaces whenever it was appropriate (ie. mostly before and after HTML block elements)
It was a good idea, but it was very limited and leaded to bad conversion when the html had leading whitespaces on several lines for example.
One such example can be found [here](https://meta.discourse.org/t/86782).
For various reasons, most of the whitespaces in a HTML file is ignored when the page is being displayed in a browser.
The rules that the browsers follow are the [CSS' White Space Processing Rules](https://www.w3.org/TR/css-text-3/#white-space-rules).
They can be quite complicated when you take into account RTL languages and other various tidbits but they boils down to the following:
- Collapse whitespaces down to one space (0x20) inside an inline context (ie. nodes/tags that are being displaying on the same line)
- Remove any leading/trailing whitespaces inside an inline context
One quick & dirty way of getting this 90% solved would be to do 'HTML.gsub!(/[[:space:]]+/, " ")'.
We would also need to hoist <pre> elements in order to not mess with their whitespaces.
Unfortunately, this solution let some whitespaces creep around HTML tags which leads to more '.strip!' calls than I can bear.
I decided to "emulate" the browser's handling of whitespaces and came up with a solution in 4 parts
1. remove_not_allowed!
The HtmlToMarkdown library is recursively "visiting" all the nodes in the HTML in order to convert them to Markdown.
All the nodes that aren't handled by the library (eg. <script>, <style> or any non-textual HTML tags) are "swallowed".
In order to reduce the number of nodes visited, the method 'remove_not_allowed!' will automatically delete all the nodes
that have no "visitor" (eg. a 'visit_<tag>' method) defined.
2. remove_hidden!
Similar purpose as the previous method (eg. reducing number of nodes visited), there's no point trying to convert something that is hidden.
The 'remove_hidden!' method removes any nodes that was hidden using the "hidden" HTML attribute, some CSS or with a width or height equal to 0.
3. hoist_line_breaks!
The 'hoist_line_breaks!' method is there to handle <br> tags. I know those tiny <br> don't do much but they can be quite annoying.
The <br> tags are inline elements but they visually work like a block element (ie. they create a new line).
If you have the following HTML "<i>Foo<br>Bar</i>", it ends up visually similar to "<i>Foo</i><br><i>Bar</i>".
The latter being much more easy to process than the former, so that's what this method is doing.
The "hoist_line_breaks" will hoist <br> tags out of inline tags until their parent is a block element.
4. remove_whitespaces!
The "remove_whitespaces!" is where all the whitespace removal is happening. It's broken down into 4 methods as well
- remove_whitespaces!
- is_inline?
- collapse_spaces!
- remove_trailing_space!
The 'remove_whitespace!' method is recursively walking the HTML tree (skipping <pre> tags).
If a node has any children, they will be chunked into groups of inline elements vs block elements.
For each chunks of inline elements, it will call the "collapse_space!" and "remove_trailing_space!" methods.
For each chunks of block elements, it will call "remote_whitespace!" to keep walking the HTML tree recursively.
The "is_inline?" method determines whether a node is part of a inline context.
A node is inline iif it's a text node or it's an inline tag, but not <br>, and all its children are also inline.
The "collapse_spaces!" method will collapse any kind of (white) space into a single space (" ") character, even accros tags.
For example, if we have " Foo \n<i> Bar </i>\t42", it will return "Foo <i>Bar </i>42".
Finally, the "remove_trailing_space!" method is there to remove any trailing space that might creep in at the end of the inline chunk.
This solution is not 100% bullet-proof.
It does not support RTL languages at all and has some caveats that I felt were not worth the work to get properly fixed.

Make sure the topic_user.bookmarked column is set correctly when user bookmarks/unbookmarks any post in a topic. For example, you bookmarked a post in the topic that was not the OP, the bookmark icon in the topic list would not be shown. Same if deleting a bookmark for the last bookmarked post in a topic, the bookmark icon in the topic list would not be removed.
Previously this was only setting it to true if bookmarking the OP/topic, which was not correct -- we want to show the icon on the topic list if any post is bookmarked.
Also set to false if unbookmarking the last bookmarked post in the topic.
Also in this PR is a migration to correct any out of sync topic_user.bookmarked columns, based on the new logic.
Previously we relied entirely on levenshtein_distance_spammer_emails site
setting to handle "similar looking" emails.
This commit improves the situation by always preferring to block (and check)
canonical emails.
This means that if:
`samevil+test@domain.com` is blocked the system will block `samevil@domain.com`
This means that `samevil+2@domain.com` (ad infinitum) will be blocked
This reverts commit 6f9177e2ed.
We decided on a completely different approach to the problem.
Instead we will let blocked emails be treated as canonical.
* When copying the markdown for an image between posts, we were not adding the srcset and data-small-image attributes which are done by calling optimize_image! in cooked post processor
* Refactored the code which was confusing in its current state (the consider_for_reuse method was super confusing) and fixed the issue
* FEATURE: don't display new/unread notification for muted topics
Currently, even if user mute topic, when a new reply to that topic arrives, the user will get "See 1 new or updated topic" message. After clicking on that link, nothing is visible (because the topic is muted)
To solve that problem, we will send background message to all users who recently muted that topic that update is coming and they can ignore the next message about that topic.
It's possible to cause a 500 error by putting in weird characters in the
input field for updating a users website on their profile.
Normal invalid input like not including the domain extension is already
handled by the user_profile model validation. This fix ensures a server
error doesn't occur for weird input characters.
If for some reason an update did not go through (for example,
concurrently updating the same topic twice), we were logging something
like:

This happened because we knew an error occurred but the active record
object had no errors attached.
This patch fixes the issue by attaching a proper error message in the
event that this happens.
The main thrust of this PR is to take all the conditional checks based on the `enable_bookmarks_with_reminders` away and only keep the code from the `true` path, making bookmarks with reminders the core bookmarks feature. There is also a migration to create `Bookmark` records out of `PostAction` bookmarks for a site.
### Summary
* Remove logic based on whether enable_bookmarks_with_reminders is true. This site setting is now obsolete, the old bookmark functionality is being removed. Retain the setting and set the value to `true` in a migration.

It also broke some of the multisite tests.
Rails tries to use the same connection for reading from a replica as writing
to the leader during tests, because, with everything happening in a
transaction, changes to the DB wouldn't otherwise be reflected in the
replica connection.
The difference now is that Rails tries to do this for connections opened
after the test has started which affected rails multisite connections.
The upshot of this is that, as things stand, you are likely to
experience problems if you try to connect to a different multisite DB in
a test when the `current_db` is not 'default'.
- Eliminate superfluous "author wrote" block
- Eliminate block-quote for all posts
- Move participant count and reply count to 1 line
- Prioritize name over username if forum requests
- Use fabrication in list controller spec to speed up spec
There is now an explicit "Delete Bookmark" button in the edit modal. A confirmation is shown before deleting.
Along with this, when the bookmarked post icon is clicked the modal is now shown instead of just deleting the bookmark. Also, the "Delete Bookmark" button from the user bookmark list now confirms the action.
Add a `d d` shortcut in the modal to delete the bookmark.
Users can now edit the bookmark name and reminder time from their list of bookmarks.
We use "Custom" for the date and time in the modal because if the user set a reminder for "tomorrow" then edit the reminder "tomorrow", the definition of what "tomorrow" is has changed.
Sometimes spec which is testing order groups by user count is failing.
My theory is that cause is the randomness of Postgres when the order value is the same for 2 rows.
In spec, we got three groups
`moderator_group` - 0 users
`group` - 1 user
`other_group` - 1 user
And we are expecting that controller will return them in ascending order [moderator, group, other_group]
Because `group` and `other_group` contain the same amount of users, we are dealing with luck
Therefore, I believe that adding one more user to other_group should make that query reliable.
It was not crashing on my local machine, so I am not 100% sure.
Within 24 hours of signing up, new users were losing their
default trust level of 3. With this fix, demotions from
trust level 3 won't happen when the "default trust level"
setting is 3 or 4.

This commit is for a frequently requested task on meta so that only 1
API call is needed instead of 3!
In order to create a user via the api and not have them receive an
activation email you can pass in the `active=true` flag. This prevents
sending an email, but it is only half of the solution and puts the db in
a weird state where it has an active user with an unconfirmed email.
This commit fixes that and ensures that if the `active=true` flag is set
the user's email is also marked as confirmed.
This change only applies to admins using the API.

Trigger an event for plugins to consume when a user session is refreshed.
This allows external auth to be notified about account activity, and be
able to take action such as use oauth refresh tokens to keep oauth
tokens valid.
The new `enforce_canonical_emails` site setting ensures that emails in the
canonical form are unique.
This mean that if `s.a.m+1@gmail.com` is registered `sam@gmail.com` will
not be allowed.
The commit contains a blanket "tag strip" (stripping everything after +)
it also contains special handling of a "dot strip" for googlemail and gmail.
The setting only impacts new registrations after `enforce_canonical_emails`
The setting is default false so it will not impact any existing installs.
Timezone is guessed by moment.js if unset upon a normal login, but was not when
logging in via an email link. This adds logic to update a guessed
timezone upon email login so timezones don't end up blank.

This commit removes support for api credentials in query params except
for a few whitelisted routes like rss/json feeds and the handle_mail
route.
Several tests were written to valid these changes, but the bulk of the
spec changes are just switching them over to use header based auth so
that they will pass without changing what they were actually testing.

Introduce the concept of "high priority notifications" which include PM and bookmark reminder notifications. Now bookmark reminder notifications act in the same way as PM notifications (float to top of recent list, show in the green bubble) and most instances of unread_private_messages in the UI have been replaced with unread_high_priority_notifications.
The user email digest is changed to just have a section about unread high priority notifications, the unread PM section has been removed.
A high_priority boolean column has been added to the Notification table and relevant indices added to account for it.
unread_private_messages has been kept on the User model purely for backwards compat, but now just returns unread_high_priority_notifications count so this may cause some inconsistencies in the UI.

It used to resize the images to max width and height first and then
perform the crop operation. This is wrong because it ignored the user
specified image sizes from the Markdown.

Previously we would consider a user "present" and "last seen" if the
browser window was visible.
This has many edge cases, you could be considered present and around for
days just by having a window open and no screensaver on.
Instead we now also check that you either clicked, transitioned around app
or scrolled the page in the last minute in combination with window
visibility
This will lead to more reliable notifications via email and reduce load of
message bus for cases where a user walks away from the terminal
If the “secure media” site setting is enabled then ALL files uploaded to Discourse (images, video, audio, pdf, txt, zip etc. etc.) will follow the secure media rules. The “prevent anons from downloading files” setting will no longer have any bearing on upload security. Basically, the feature will more appropriately be called “secure uploads” instead of “secure media”.
This is being done because there are communities out there that would like all attachments and media to be secure based on category rules but still allow anonymous users to download attachments in public places, which is not possible in the current arrangement.
Additionally correctly handle cookie path for authentication_data
There were two bugs that exposed an interesting case where two discourse
instances hosted across two subfolder installs in the same domain
with oauth may clash and cause strange redirection on first login:
Log in to example.com/forum1. authentication_data cookie is set with path /
On the first redirection, the current authentication_data cookie is not unset.
Log in to example.com/forum2. In this case, the authentication_data cookie
is already set from forum1 - the initial page load will incorrectly redirect
the user to the redirect URL from the already-stored cookie, to /forum1.
This removes this issue by:
* Setting the cookie for the correct path, and not having it on root
* Correctly removing the cookie on first login
This fix ensures that when a topic title is edited the new title shows
up in the post webhook instead of the old title.
Rather than passing in the old topic object to the PostRevisor the
PostRevisor initializer will load the updated topic object inside of the
initializer if you don't pass it in. This will allow the post_edited
webhook to have the correct topic values.

On some sites when bootstrapping communities it is helpful to bootstrap
with a "light weight" invite code.
Use the site setting `invite_code` to set a global invite code.
In this case the administrator can share the code with
a community which is very easy to remember and then anyone who has
that code can easily register accounts.
People without the invite code are not allowed account registration.
Global invite codes are less secure than indevidual codes, in that they
tend to leak in the community however in some cases when starting a brand
new community the security guarantees of invites are not needed.
Rails calls I18n.translate during initialization and by default translation overrides are used. Database migrations would fail if the system tried to migrate from an old version that didn't have the `translation_overrides` table with all its columns yet.
This makes restoring really old backups work again. Running `DISABLE_TRANSLATION_OVERRIDES=1 rake db:migrate` will allow you to upgrade such an old database as well.
Having a tag be a member of a tag group and the group's parent tag at
the same time causes some unexpected behavior. When a tag is assigned
as the parent, remove it from the group.
Two behaviors in the mail gem collide:
1. Attachments are added as extra parts at the top level,
2. When there are both text and html parts, the content type is set to
'multipart/alternative'.
Since attachments aren't alternative renderings, for emails that contain
attachments and both html and text parts, some coercing is necessary.
Adds 3 config values that allow to set a custom provider of Gravatar-like API accessible from gravatar_base_url. A custom date and time can now be selected for a bookmark reminder
The reminder will not happen at the exact time but rather at the next 5 minute interval of the bookmark reminder schedule.
This PR also fixes issues with bulk deleting topic bookmarks.
* This PR implements the scheduling and notification system for bookmark reminders. Every 5 minutes a schedule runs to check any reminders that need to be sent before now, limited to **300** reminders at a time. Any leftover reminders will be sent in the next run. This is to avoid having to deal with fickle sidekiq and reminders in the far-flung future, which would necessitate having a background job anyway to clean up any missing `enqueue_at` reminders.
* If a reminder is sent its `reminder_at` time is cleared and the `reminder_last_sent_at` time is filled in. Notifications are only user-level notifications for now.
* All JavaScript and frontend code related to displaying the bookmark reminder notification is contained here. The reminder functionality is now re-enabled in the bookmark modal as well.
* This PR also implements the "Remind me next time I am at my desktop" bookmark reminder functionality. When the user is on a mobile device they are able to select this option. When they choose this option we set a key in Redis saying they have a pending at desktop reminder. The next time they change devices we check if the new device is desktop, and if it is we send reminders using a DistributedMutex. There is also a job to ensure consistency of these reminders in Redis (in case Redis drops the ball) and the at desktop reminders expire after 20 days.

When multiple themes are active, the values will be combined. The combination method varies based on the setting. CSP/SVG arrays will be combined. serialize_topic_excerpts will use `Enumerable#any`.
This commit ensures that an error is thrown when a user fails to be
removed from a group instead of silently failing.
This means when using the api you will receive a 400 instead of a 200 if
there is a failure. The remove group endpoint allows the removal of
multiple users, this change means that if you try to delete 10 users,
but 1 of them fails you will receive a 400 instead of 200 even though
the other 9 were removed successfully. Rather than adding a bunch more
complexity I think this is more than adequate for most use cases.
PostMover passes to PostCreator a `created_at` that is a `ActiveSupport::WithTimeZone` instance (and also `is_a? Time`). Previously it was always being passed through `Time.zone.parse` so it would lose sub-second information. Now, it takes `Time` input as-is, while still parsing other types.

Anonymous users could query the invite json and see counts and

Introduces a new site setting `max_notifications_per_user`.
Out-of-the-box this is set to 10,000. If a user exceeds this number of
notifications, we will delete the oldest notifications keeping only 10,000.
To disable this safeguard set the setting to 0.
Enforcement happens weekly.
This is in place to protect the system from pathological states where a
single user has enormous amounts of notifications causing various queries
to time out. In practice nobody looks back more than a few hundred notifications.
When looking for the first paragraph with content in a post,
it was matching the lightboxed image paragraph as "<p></p>".
Fix that and other potential empty paragraphs with the
p:not(:empty) selector.
Add a new selector to find the image links in lightboxed
images as valid content for emails.
* Also fixes an issue where if webp was a downloaded hotlinked
image and then secure + sent in an email, it was not being
redacted because webp was not a supported media format in
FileHelper

This is because the TOTP gem identifies as a colon as an addressable
protocol. The solution for now is to remove the colon in the issuer
name.
Changing the issuer changes the token values, but now it was completely
broken for colons so this should not be breaking anyone new.

When admin changes staff email still enforce old email confirm. Only allow auto-confirm of a new email by admin IF the target user is not also an admin. If an admin gets locked out of their email the site admin can use the rails console to solve the issue in a pinch.
When admin changes a user's email from the preferences page of that user:
* The user will not be sent an email to confirm that their
email is changing. They will be sent a reset password email
so they can set the password for their account at the new
email address.
* The user will still be sent an email to their old email to inform
them that it was changed.
* Admin and staff users still need to follow the same old + new
confirm process, as do users changing their own email.
If a group mention could be notified on preview it was given an `<a>`
tag with the `.notify` class. When cooked it would display differently.
This patch makes the server side cooking match the client preview.
Further on from my earlier PR #8973 also reject upload as secure if its origin URL contains images/emoji. We still check Emoji.all first to try and be canonical.
This may be a little heavy handed (e.g. if an external URL followed this same path it would be a false positive), but there are a lot of emoji aliases where the actual Emoji url is something, but you can have another image that should not be secure that that thing is an alias for. For example slight_smile.png does not show up in Emoji.all BUT slightly_smiling_face does, and it aliases slight_smile e.g. /images/emoji/twitter/slight_smile.png?v=9 and /images/emoji/twitter/slightly_smiling_face.png?v=9 are equivalent.
The rake task was broken, because the addition of the
UploadSecurity check returned true/false instead of the
upload ID to determine which uploads to set secure.
Also it was rebaking the posts in the wrong place and
pretty inefficiently at that. Also it was rebaking before
the upload was being changed to secure in the DB.
This also updates the task to set the access_control_post_id
for all uploads. the first post the upload is linked to is used
for the access control. if the upload doesn't get changed to
secure this doesn't affect anything.
Added a spec for the rake task to cover common cases.
Sometimes PullHotlinkedImages pulls down a site emoji and creates a new upload record for it. In the cases where these happen the upload is not created via the normal path that custom emoji follows, so we need to check in UploadSecurity whether the origin of the upload is based on a regular site emoji. If it is we never want to mark it as secure (we don't want emoji not accessible from other posts because of secure media).
This only became apparent because the uploads:ensure_correct_acl rake task uses UploadSecurity to check whether an upload should be secure, which would have marked a whole bunch of regular-old-emojis as secure.
Now if a group is visible but unmentionable, users can search for it
when composing by typing with `@`, but it will be rendered without the
grey background color.
It will also no longer pop up a JIT warning saying "You are about to
mention X people" because the group will not be mentioned.
After adding a tag as a synonym of another tag,
both tags will have the wrong topic counts. It's
corrected within 12 hours by the EnsureDbConsistency
job. This fix ensures the topic counts are updated
much sooner.
* FIX: when unread reply notification exists don't create new
From time to time, the user is creating a reply post and then they want to add additional details. They edit an existing post and for example, add a quote from a previous one.
In that situation, if the user to whom reply was directed to already have the unread notification, we should not create the new one.

Disabled selecting the "reminder type" for bookmarks in the UI because the backend functionality is not done yet (of sending users notifications etc.)

The commit: 75069ff179
allows users to remove their primary group, but this introduced a bug
where if you were to edit any other profile info like location or
website which is a form on a separate page then the flair dropdown,
would cause the selected flair to be removed.
This fix ensures that if the `primary_group_id` parameter is missing
from the update payload it does not remove the existing
`primary_group_id`. It will only remove the `primary_group_id` if it is
present in the payload and empty.
This is not used in core or official plugins, and has been printing a deprecation notice since v2.3.0beta4. All OpenID 2.0 code and dependencies have been dropped. The user_open_ids table remains for now, in case anyone has missed the deprecation notice, and needs to migrate their data.

This will allow developers (in rails development mode only) to log pre-loaded JSON app data to the browser console for inspection.
When a tag is restricted to a secured category that the user can't see,
the message was saying that it wasn't restricted to any categories.
Now it will say it's restricted to categories you can't access.
Some auth providers (e.g. Auth0 with default configuration) send the email address in the name field. In Discourse, the name field is made public, so this commit adds a safeguard to prevent emails being made public.

For some reasons, we have two ways of associating "custom fields" to a new topic:
using 'meta_data' and 'custom_fields'.
However, if we were to provide both arguments, the 'meta_data' would be overwritten
by any 'custom_fields' provided.
This commit ensures we can use both and merges the 'custom_fields' with the 'meta_data'.
This fix ensures that the site setting `post_edit_time_limit` does not
bypass the limit of the site setting `min_trust_to_edit_post`. This
prevents a bug where users that did not meet the minimum trust level to
edit could edit the title of topics.
Previously you'd get a server side generic error due to a password check
failing. Now the input element has a maxlength attribute and the server
side will respond with a nicer error message if the value is too long.
If our reply tree somehow ends up with cycles or other odd
structures, we only want to consider a reply once, at the first
level in the tree that it appears.

It seems in some situations replies have been moved to other topics but
the `PostReply` table has not been updated. I will try and fix this in a
follow up PR, but for now this fix ensures that every time we ask a post
for its replies that we restrict it to the same topic.
This commit adds support for an optional "logout" parameter in the
payload of the /session/sso_provider endpoint. If an SSO Consumer
adds a "logout=true" parameter to the encoded/signed "sso" payload,
then Discourse will treat the request as a logout request instead
of an authentication request. The logout flow works something like
this:
* User requests logout at SSO-Consumer site (e.g., clicks "Log me out!"
on web browser).
* SSO-Consumer site does whatever it does to destroy User's session on
the SSO-Consumer site.
* SSO-Consumer then redirects browser to the Discourse sso_provider
endpoint, with a signed request bearing "logout=true" in addition
to the usual nonce and the "return_sso_url".
* Discourse destroys User's discourse session and redirects browser back
to the "return_sso_url".
* SSO-Consumer site does whatever it does --- notably, it cannot request
SSO credentials from Discourse without the User being prompted to login
again.

If someone only had security keys enabled, the icon to say they had 2FA enabled would not show in the admin staff user list. It would only show if they had TOTP enabled.
When we change upload's sha1 (e.g. when resizing images) it won't match the data in the most recent S3 inventory index. With this change the uploads that have been updated since the inventory has been generated are ignored.
When FinalDestination is given a URL it encodes it before doing anything else. however S3 presigned URLs should not be messed with in any way otherwise we can end up with 400 errors when downloading the URL e.g.
<Error><Code>InvalidToken</Code><Message>The provided token is malformed or otherwise invalid.</Message>
The signature of presigned URLs is very important and is automatically generated and should be preserved.
This should make the importer more resilient to incomplete or damaged
backups. It will disable some validations and attempt to automatically
repair category permissions before importing.
For example /t/ URLs were being replaced if they contained secure-media-uploads so if you made a topic called "Secure Media Uploads Are Cool" the View Topic link in the user notifications would be stripped out.
Refactored code so this secure URL detection happens in one place.
When 'categories topics' setting is set to 0, the system will
automatically try to find a value to keep the two columns (categories
and topics) symmetrical.
The value is computed as 1.5x the number of top level categories and at
least 5 topics will always be returned.
Previously if somehow a user created a blank markdown document using tag
tricks (eg `<p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p>`) and so on, we would
completely strip the document down to blank on post process due to onebox
hack.
Needs a followup cause I am still unclear about the reason for empty p stripping
and it can cause some unclear cases when we re-cook posts.
Basically, say you had already downloaded a certain image from a certain URL
using pull_hotlinked_images and the onebox. The upload would be stored
by its sha as an upload record. Whenever you linked to the same URL again
in a post (e.g. in our case an og:image on review.discourse) we would
would reuse the original upload record because of the sha1.
However when you turned on secure media this could cause problems as
the first post that uses that upload after secure media is enabled
will set the access control post for the upload to the new post.
Then if the post is deleted every single onebox/link to that same image
URL will fail forever with 403 as the secure-media-uploads URL fails
if the access control post has been deleted.
To fix this when cooking posts and pulling hotlinked images, we only
allow using an original upload by URL if its access control post
matches the current post, and if the original_sha1 is filled in,
meaning it was uploaded AFTER secure media was enabled. otherwise
we just redownload the media again to be safe, as the URL will always
be new then.

When tag or category is added and the user is watching that category/tag
we changed notification type to `edited` instead of `new post`.
However, the logic here should be a little bit more sophisticated.
If the user has already seen the post, notification should be `edited`.
However, when user hasn't yet seen post, notification should be "new
reply". The case for that is when for example topic is under private
category and set for publishing later. In that case, we modify an
existing topic, however, for a user, it is like a new post.

Previously the badge was granted one month after the last time the badge was granted. The exact date shifted by one day each month. The new logic tries to grant the badge always at the beginning of a new month by looking at new users of the previous month. The "granted at" date is set to the end of the previous month.
Adds a new route `/u/{username}/card.json`, which has a reduced number of fields. This change is behind a hidden site setting, so we can test compatibility before rolling out.
The new search modifier `in:all` can be used to include both public and personal messages in the same search.

When pull_hotlinked_images tried to run on posts with secure media (which had already been downloaded from external sources) we were getting a 404 when trying to download the image because the secure endpoint doesn't allow anon downloads.
Also, we were getting into an infinite loop of pull_hotlinked_images because the job didn't consider the secure media URLs as "downloaded" already so it kept trying to download them over and over.
In this PR I have also refactored secure-media-upload URL checks and mutations into single source of truth in Upload, adding a SECURE_MEDIA_ROUTE constant to check URLs against too.

This commit refactors the FallbackHandler and Connector:
* There were two different ways to determine whether the redis master
was up. There is now one way and it is the responsibility of the
new RedisStatus class.
* A background thread would be created whenever `verify_master` was
called unless the thread already existed. The thread would
periodically check the status of the redis master. However, checking
that a thread is `alive?` is an ineffective way of determining
whether it will continue to check the redis master in the future
since the thread may be in the process of winding down.
Now, this thread is created when the recorded master status goes from
up to down. Since this thread runs the only part of the code that is
able to bring the recorded status up again, we ensure that only one
thread is probing the redis master at a time and that there is always
a thread probing redis master when it is recorded as being down.
* Each time the status of the redis master was checked periodically, it
would spawn a new thread and immediately join on it. I assume this
happened to isolate the check from the current execution, but since
the join rethrows exceptions in the parent thread, this was not
effective.
* The logic for falling back was spread over the FallbackHandler and
the Connector. The connector is now a dumb object that delegates
responsibility for determining the status of redis to the
FallbackHandler.
* Previously, failing to connect to a master redis instance when it was
not recorded as down would raise an exception. Now, this exception is
passed to `Discourse.warn_exception` and the connection is made to
the slave.
This commit introduces the FallbackHandlers singleton:
* It is responsible for holding the set of FallbackHandlers.
* It adds callbacks to the fallback handlers for when a redis master
comes up or goes down. Main redis and message bus redis may exist on
different or the same redis hosts and so these callbacks may all
exist on the same FallbackHandler or on separate ones.
These objects are tested using fake concurrency provided by the
Concurrency module:
* An `around(:each)` hook is used to cause each test to run inside a
Scenario so that the test body, mocking cleanup and `after(:each)`
callbacks are run in a different Fiber.
* Therefore, holting the execution of the Execution abruptly (so that
the fibers aren't run to completion), prevents the mocking cleaning
and `after(:each)` callbacks from running. I have tried to prevent
this by recovering from all exceptions during an Execution.

Add TopicUploadSecurityManager to handle post moves. When a post moves around or a topic changes between categories and public/private message status the uploads connected to posts in the topic need to have their secure status updated, depending on the security context the topic now lives in.
When we were pulling hotlinked images for oneboxes in the CookedPostProcessor, we were using the direct S3 URL, which returned a 403 error and thus did not set widths and heights of the images. We now cook the URL first based on whether the upload is secure before handing off to FastImage.
group membership and `CategoryUser` notification level should be
respected to determine whether to notify staged users about activity in
private categories, instead of only ever generating notifications for staged
users' own topics (which has been the behaviour since
0c4ac2a7bc)

quote in post #2, it should keep the information of post #1

On some customer forums we are randomly getting a "You must select a valid user" error when sending a PM even when all parameters seem to be OK. This is an attempt to track it down with more data.
There is a feature, that when tag or category is added to the topic,
customers who are watching that category or tag are notified.
The problem is that it is using default notification type "new post"
It would be better to use "new post" only when there really is a new
post and "edited" when categories or tags were modified.
Previously if local login via email was disabled because of the site setting or because SSO was enabled, we were raising a 500 error. We now raise a 403 error instead; we shouldn't raise 500 errors on purpose, instead keeping that code for unhandled errors. It doesn't make sense in the context of what we are validating either to raise a 500.
This fix allows a user to remove their currently assigned primary group
if the Site Setting `user selected primary groups` is enabled.
Before this fix, if a user selected "none" for their primary group it
would silently fail and never be updated.
Custom emoji, profile background, and card background were being set to secure, which we do not want as they are always in a public context and result in a 403 error from the ACL if linked directly.
* When we refactored away the admin-login route we introduced a bug where admins could not log into an SSO enabled site, because of a check in the email_login route that disallowed this.
* Allow admin to get around this check.
### General Changes and Duplication
* We now consider a post `with_secure_media?` if it is in a read-restricted category.
* When uploading we now set an upload's secure status straight away.
* When uploading if `SiteSetting.secure_media` is enabled, we do not check to see if the upload already exists using the `sha1` digest of the upload. The `sha1` column of the upload is filled with a `SecureRandom.hex(20)` value which is the same length as `Upload::SHA1_LENGTH`. The `original_sha1` column is filled with the _real_ sha1 digest of the file.
* Whether an upload `should_be_secure?` is now determined by whether the `access_control_post` is `with_secure_media?` (if there is no access control post then we leave the secure status as is).
* When serializing the upload, we now cook the URL if the upload is secure. This is so it shows up correctly in the composer preview, because we set secure status on upload.
### Viewing Secure Media
* The secure-media-upload URL will take the post that the upload is attached to into account via `Guardian.can_see?` for access permissions
* If there is no `access_control_post` then we just deliver the media. This should be a rare occurrance and shouldn't cause issues as the `access_control_post` is set when `link_post_uploads` is called via `CookedPostProcessor`
### Removed
We no longer do any of these because we do not reuse uploads by sha1 if secure media is enabled.

When using the login confirmation screen, the referrer URL is `/auth/{provider}`. That means that the user is redirected back to the confirmation screen after logging in, even though login was successful. This is very confusing. Instead, they should be redirected to the homepage.
if SiteSetting.secure_media is disabled we still want to
redirect to the signed url for uploads that are marked as
secure because their ACLs are probably still private
* Add a rake task to disable secure media. This sets all uploads to `secure: false`, changes the upload ACL to public, and rebakes all the posts using the uploads to make sure they point to the correct URLs. This is in a transaction for each upload with the upload being updated the last step, so if the task fails it can be resumed.
* Also allow viewing media via the secure url if secure media is disabled, redirecting to the normal CDN url, because otherwise media links will be broken while we go and rebake all the posts + update ACLs
6e1fe22 introduced the possiblity for category_users to have a NULL notification_level, so that we can store `last_seen_at` dates without locking the notification level. At the time, this did not affect the topic-tracking-state query. However, the query changes in f434de2 introduced a slight change in behavior.
Previously, a subquery would look for a category_user with notification_level=mute. f434de2 refactored this to remove the subquery, and inverted some of the logic to suit.
The new query checked for `notification_level <> :muted`. If `notification_level` is NULL, this comparison will return NULL. In this scenario, notification_level=NULL means that we should fall back to the default tracking level (regular), and so we want the expression to resolve as true, not false. There was already a check for the existence of the category_users row, but it did not check for the existence of a NOT NULL notification_level.
This commit amends the expression so that the notification_level will only be compared if it is non-null.

This is required for this particular spec as we can not risk having a stale

Providing invalid dates as the end_date or start_date param causes a 500 error and creates noise in the logs. This will handle the error and returns a proper 400 response to the client with a message that explains what the problem is.
This is required for people using apps with custom protocols. We still verify the entire URL (including protocol) against the site setting value.
Refactored wildcard_url_checker so that it always returns a boolean, rather than sometimes returning a regex match.
Added a fix to gracefully error with a Webauthn::SecurityKeyError if somehow a user provides an unkown COSE algorithm when logging in with a security key.

Previously, categories without any topics were being excluded from the UPDATE query. This means the counter gets stuck, and the category cannot be deleted. This change ensures that the counters get correctly set to zero.
Restore tl3 reachability by calculating penalty counts vs unsuspend/unsilence.
Only count unsuspend or unsilences that have been made by a user other than
the Discourse system user.
People rarely want to have their avatars show up as the preview image on social media platforms. Instead, we should fall back to the site opengraph image.
It used to check how many quotes were inside a post, without taking
considering that some quotes can contain other quotes. This commit
selects only top level quotes.
I had to use XPath because I could not find an equivalent CSS
selector.
A small fix for Basic User Serializers where some downstream serializers do not correctly set user objects. This caused some issues in certain plugins that depend on the user method to return a user.

We had an issue where if someone sent a PM with crazy
characters that are stripped and we end up with only
a number, the topic redirect errored because the slug was
a number. so instead we return the default as well if
the slug is a number after prettification
The ROTP gem is only used in a very small amount of places in the app, we don't need to globally require it.
Also set the Addressable gem to not have a specific version range, as it has not been a problem yet.
Some slight refactoring of UserSecondFactor here too to use SecondFactorManager to avoid code repetition
This should catch a few scenarios which can waste a lot of time in development
- Forgetting to run migrations
- Missing plugin migrations
- Missing post_deploy migrations
API keys are now only visible when first created. After that, only the first four characters are stored in the database for identification, along with an sha256 hash of the full key. This makes key usage easier to audit, and ensures attackers would not have access to the live site in the event of a database leak.
This makes the merge lower risk, because we have some time to revert if needed. Once the change is confirmed to be working, we will add a second commit to drop the `key` column.
Hide old bookmark post-menu item if the site setting for the new bookmark reminders is enabled and change icon for the new bookmark functionality to the same as the old bookmark button
Fix null @topic_view error in post serializer for post_bookmark, as new posts do not have a @topic_view
This is a slight workaround which helps somewhat now but is pending a larger
fix.
When this spec ran in parallel mode uploads could start cross talking and
an upload you expect to be there may vanish.
This works around the issue by making the upload unique every time it is
created
It also folds up an expensive test into the main one.

escape/encode are just aliases for one another. This PR uses the Addressable gem to replace these methods with its own encode, unencode, and encode_component methods where appropriate.
I have put all references to Addressable::URI here into the UrlHelper to keep them corralled in one place to make changes to this implementation easier.
Addressable is now also an explicit gem dependency.
Note: All of this functionality is hidden behind a hidden, default false, site setting called `enable_bookmarks_with_reminders`. Also, any feedback on Ember code would be greatly appreciated!
This is part 1 of the bookmark improvements. The next PR will address the backend logic to send reminder notifications for bookmarked posts to users. This PR adds the following functionality:
* We are adding a new `bookmarks` table and `Bookmark` model to make the bookmarks a first-class citizen and to allow attaching reminders to them.
* Posts now have a new button in their actions menu that has the icon of an actual book
* Clicking the button opens the new bookmark modal.
* Both name and the reminder type are optional.
* If you close the modal without doing anything, the bookmark is saved with no reminder.
* If you click the Cancel button, no bookmark is saved at all.
* All of the reminder type tiles are dynamic and the times they show will be based on your user timezone set in your profile (this should already be set for you).
* If for some reason a user does not have their timezone set they will not be able to set a reminder, but they will still be able to create a bookmark.
* A bookmark can be deleted by clicking on the book icon again which will be red if the post is bookmarked.
This PR does NOT do anything to migrate or change existing bookmarks in the form of `PostActions`, the two features live side-by-side here. Also this does nothing to the topic bookmarking.

When the tag is muted and topic contains that tag, we should not mark that message as NEW.
There are 3 possible settings which site admin can set.
remove_muted_tags_from_latest - always
It means that if the topic got at least one muted tag, we should not mark that topic as NEW
remove_muted_tags_from_latest - only muted
Similar to above, however, if at least one tag is not muted, the topic is marked as NEW
remove_muted_tags_from_latest - never
Basically, mute tag setting is ignored and all topics are set as NEW

Non UTF-8 user_agent requests were bypassing logging due to PG always

I tried to add some explanation from memory and remove some exceptions that
seemed to be superfluous.
This upgrades shoulda to latest, it appears to work once a couple of assertions

This fixes the following issues:
* The link element on the lightbox which pops open the lightbox was linking to the S3 URL with a private ACL instead of the secure media URL for the image
* Change to use `@post.with_secure_media?` in `CookedPostProcessor` for URL cooking, as in some cases, like when a post is edited and an upload is added, `upload.secure?` can be false which resulted in `srcset` URLs not being cooked correctly to secure media upload urls.
This feature adds the ability to define synonyms for tags, and the ability to merge one tag into another while keeping it as a synonym. For example, tags named "js" and "java-script" can be synonyms of "javascript". When searching and creating topics using synonyms, they will be mapped to the base tag.
Along with this change is a new UI found on each tag's page (for example, `/tags/javascript`) where more information about the tag can be shown. It will list the synonyms, which categories it's restricted to (if any), and which tag groups it belongs to (if tag group names are public on the `/tags` page by enabling the "tags listed by group" setting). Staff users will be able to manage tags in this UI, merge tags, and add/remove synonyms.
This bug was causing some unusual behavior when the last post is filtered (e.g. from an ignored user). In some situations this would cause suggested topics to be omitted from the payload.
The next_page specs have been updated to remove most of the stubs
Some endpoints are returning i18n keys instead of translated messages
and with these changes, the site_texts endpoint can help translating
those.
Pagination part is needed for better wildcard support. For example,
looking for 'js.notifications' would set 'has_more' to true, but return
only the first 50 messages with no way of fetching the remaining.

When a post/topic is created Discourse serializes a `NewPostResult`
object. Normally this contains a status like `created_post` or
errors describing why the post could not be created.
There are times when a plugin might want to take the inputted post
and do something in the background. In this case, the plugin
can return a custom `message` and `route_to` attribute in the
`NewPostResult`.
If present, the message will be displayed in an alert, and when "Ok" is
clicked the user will be routed to the new URL.

We already cache failed onebox URL requests client-side, we now want to cache this on the server-side for extra protection. failed onebox previews will be cached for 1 hour, and any more requests for that URL will fail with a 404 status. Forcing a rebake via the Rebake HTML action will delete the failed URL cache (like how the oneboxer preview cache is deleted).
When uploading a file to a theme component, and that file is existing and has already been marked as secure, we now automatically mark the file as secure: false, change the ACL, and log the action as the user (also rebake the posts for the upload)
If a user has more than 60 active sessions, the oldest sessions will be terminated automatically. This protects performance when logging in and when loading the list of recently used devices.
This is a bottom up rewrite of Discourse cache to support faster performance
and a limited surface area.
ActiveSupport::Cache::Store accepts many options we do not use, this partial
implementation only picks the bits out that we do use and want to support.
Additionally params are named which avoids typos such as "expires_at" vs "expires_in"
This also moves a few spots in Discourse to use Discourse.cache over setex
Performance of setex and Discourse.cache.write is similar.
Discourse.cache is a more consistent method to use and offers clean fallback
if you are skipping redis
This is part of a larger change that both optimizes Discoruse.cache and omits
use of setex on $redis in favor of consistently using discourse cache
Bench does reveal that use of Rails.cache and Discourse.cache is 1.25x slower
than redis.setex / get so a re-implementation will follow prior to porting
This amends our API so we provide it with the draft key when saving a post
this means post creator can clean up the draft consistently even if we are
doing fancy stuff like replying to a new topic or new pm or whatever.
There will be some followup work to clean it up so client never calls destroy
on draft during normal operation and the #create/#update endpoints takes care of it
every time
PG 12 changes internals in a subtle way, time jitter is noticed in a few new
spots (which is normal) and default ordering is a bit different which is meant
to be random anyway.
If current value is nil we should use `&.` combined with `dig` to protect diff from erroring

When category is dismissed, `dismiss_new` message is sent to fronted to clean state.
In addition, I noticed that when old dismiss new button is clicked, no message is sent so I decided to kill two birds with one stone.
There was an issue on dev where when uploading secure media, the href of the media was correctly being replaced in the CookedPostProcessor, but the srcset urls were not being replaced correctly. This is because UrlHelper.cook_url was returning the asset host URL for the media for secure media instead of returning early with the proxied secure proxy url.
In non-login-required sites, we prevent secure uploads already used in PMs from being used in public topics.
In login_required sites, secure uploads should be reusable in any topic, PM or not.
- Show old and new email address during the process

Previously our custom exception handler was unable to handle situations
where an invalid mime type was sent, resulting in a warning log
This ensures we pretend a request is HTML for the purpose of rendering
the error page if an invalid mime type from a scanner is shipped to the app
* Abort CensoredWordsValidator early if censored_words_regexp nil. Sometimes censored_words_regex can end up nil, erroring the validator. This handles the nil condition and also adds a spec for the validator
The secure media functionality relied on `SiteSetting.enable_s3_uploads?` which, as we found in dev, did not take into account global S3 settings via `GlobalSetting.use_s3?`. We now use `SiteSetting.Upload.enable_s3_uploads` instead to be more consistent.
Also, we now validate `enable_s3_uploads` changes, because if `GlobalSetting.use_s3?` is true users should NOT be enabling S3 uploads manually.
If a post starts with a post quote and has no other text content,
then the email excerpt was the name of the person quoted and
nothing else. The intention was to show the contents of the
first paragraph or div after the quote.
With this change, a quote followed by an image will use the
image as the excerpt. A quote followed by a onebox will use the
onebox.
* Fix an issue where if an edit was made to a post with a reason provided, and then another edit was made with no reason, the original edit reason got wiped out
* We now always make a post revision (even with ninja edits) if an edit reason has been provided and it is different from the current edit reason

This PR introduces a new secure media setting. When enabled, it prevent unathorized access to media uploads (files of type image, video and audio). When the `login_required` setting is enabled, then all media uploads will be protected from unauthorized (anonymous) access. When `login_required`is disabled, only media in private messages will be protected from unauthorized access.
A few notes:
- the `prevent_anons_from_downloading_files` setting no longer applies to audio and video uploads
- the `secure_media` setting can only be enabled if S3 uploads are already enabled and configured
- upload records have a new column, `secure`, which is a boolean `true/false` of the upload's secure status
- when creating a public post with an upload that has already been uploaded and is marked as secure, the post creator will raise an error
- when enabling or disabling the setting on a site with existing uploads, the rake task `uploads:ensure_correct_acl` should be used to update all uploads' secure status and their ACL on S3
Previously people were not consistent about mocking which left internals in
a fragile state when running subfolder specs.
This introduces a simple helper `set_subfolder` which you can use to set
the subfolder for the spec. It takes care of proper configuration of subfolder
and teardown.

a new email address when you had two factor backup codes enabled.
Apparently this feature broke during this commit:

when a partial that contained a lot of javascript was removed most
likely because it didn't comply with our Content Security Policy, so as
a fix I rewrote the previous js functionality without using any
javascript and then added a spec to verify that the correct backup code
form is displayed when that page is loaded.
This version hash is used for the filename, and so browsers/CDNs cache based on it. Previously the version hash was based only on the list of requested icons. This can cause issues in a couple of situations, most commonly when developing themes with custom icons:
- A requested icon does not exist, and then later is added to the theme. The bundle output changes, but the hash did not
- The SVG content of an icon changes, but the name of the icon does not. The bundle output changes, but the hash did not
* When viewing a tag, the search widget will now show a checkbox to scope the search by tag, which will limit search results to that tag on desktop and mobile
This brings the behavior in line with native Discourse SSO. If login is required, and a user tries to visit the forum, they will be directed straight to the external login page without requiring any clicks.
This method had grown into a monster. Its query had bugs
that I couldn't fix, and new features would be hard to add.
Also I don't understand how it all works anymore...
Replace it with common table expressions that can be queried
to generate the results we need, instead of subtracting
results using lots of "NOT IN" clauses.
Fixed are bugs with tag schemas that use combinations of
tag groups, parent tags, and one-tag-per-topic restrictions.

When the tag is added, people watching specific tag are notified but also people watching specific category.
Therefore, `notify_post_users` should accept options who should be notified.
So when `category` is added to the topic, users watching topic and users watching category are notified.
When `tag` is added to the topic, users watching topic and users watching tag are notified
Finally, when a new post is created, everybody is notified, topic watchers, category watchers, tag watchers.
These specs are inherently fragile when they are run in a concurrent mode
in CI.
One process will create an upload, another will destroy the upload on disk
at the same time. We need a new safe mechanism here.
Previously we were always hard-coding expiry, this allows the secure session
to correctly handle custom expiry times

* When the name of a badge changes, or in the case of system badges when their custom translation text changes, then we need to update the title of all corresponding users who have a badge_granted_title and matching granted_title_badge_id. In the case of system badges we need to first get the proper badge ID based on the translation key e.g. badges.regular.name
* Add migration to backfill all granted_title_badge_ids for both normal badge name titles and titles using custom badge text.
* If a staff user created only a security key as their single 2FA option. they continued to be prompted to create a 2FA option because we only considered this condition satisfied if a TOTP was added.

Instead of enabling `suppress_from_latest` setting on many categories now we can enable `mute_all_categories_by_default` site setting. Then users should opt-in to categories for them to appear in the latest and categories pages.
This makes it easy to run multiple commands with the same keyword arguments. The main use is for using `chdir` across multiple commands. The `Dir.chdir` method is not concurrency safe because it switches the working directory of the entire process.

This is a follow-up to the new feature that allows a category to
require a certain number of tags from a tag group. The tag input will
shows results from the required group if none have been chosen yet.
Once a require tag is selected, the tag input will include other

* when sending a whisper, the highest_staff_post_number is set
in the next_post_number method for a Topic, but the
highest_post_number is left alone. this leaves a situation
where highest_staff_post_number is > highest_post_number
* when TopicsBulkAction#dismiss_posts was run, it was only setting the topic_user
highest_seen_post_number using the highest_post_number from the topic, so if
the user was staff and the last post in a topic was a whisper
their highest seen number was not set, and the topic stayed unread
Found through testing that the bug wasn't to do with Assign/Unassign as they do not affect the post numbers, only whispering does.
In a category's settings, the Tags tab has two new fields to
specify the number of tags that must be added to a topic
from a tag group. When creating a new topic, an error will be
shown to the user if the requirement isn't met.
The routes for categories are changing. The scheme that I intend to move
us to is:

This commit adds support for the new scheme to the server side without
dropping support for existing URLs. It is necessary to support existing
URLs for two reasons:
* This commit does not change any client side routing code,
* Posts that contain category hashtags that refer to a root category
are baked into URLs that do not fit this new scheme, (/c/[id]-[slug])
This was not causing any known issue, because the system user ID is always the same across all sites. However, we should cache this on a per-site basis to be safe.
This is a major change to draft internals. Previously there were quite a
few cases where the draft system would say "draft saved", when in fact
we just skipped saving.
This commit ensures the draft system deals with draft ownership handover in
a predictable way.
For example:
- Window 1 editing draft
- Window 2 editing same draft at the same time
Previously we would allow window 1 and 2 to just fight on the same draft
each window overwriting the same draft over an over.
This commit introduces an ownership concept where either window 1 or 2 win
and user is prompted on the loser window to reload screen to correct the issue
This also corrects edge cases where a user could have multiple browser windows
open and posts in 1 window, later to post in the second window. Previously
drafts would break in the second window, this corrects it.
This ensures we only update last_posted_at which is user facing for non messages
and non whispers.
We still update this date for secure categories, we do not revert it for
deleted posts.
* Require q param in /tags/filter/search route.
* If not provided this route was causing a 500 error when
DiscourseTagging.clean_tag was called, because .downcase
was being called on the param (which was nil).

Adds the settings:
raw_email_max_length, raw_rejected_email_max_length, delete_rejected_email_after_days.
These settings control retention of the "raw" emails logs.
raw_email_max_length ensures that if we get incoming email that is huge we will truncate it removing uploads from the raw log.

I was searching for a reason for randomly failing jobs_base_spec.rb. The reason was that after restorer_spec, the database is not restored to default.
After restorer spec RailsMultisite::ConnectionManagement.all_dbs is returning array of ['default', 'second']
Then base job execution is evaluated twice

Previously every hour we would run a full scan of the entire DB searching
for expired uploads that need to be moved to the tombstone folder.
This commit amends it so we only run the job 2 times per clean_orpha_uploads_grace_period_hours
There is a upper bound of 7 days so even if the grace period is set really
high it will still run at least once a week.
By default we have a 48 grace period so this amends it to run this cleanup
daily instead of hourly. This eliminates 23 times we run this ultra expensive
query.
The query to count how many new users there are since a given date
is expensive. It's the least personalized stat and the one we fallback
to last when no better number can be found for the target user.
Give up accuracy so we can aggressively cache the user counts
that appear in this email.
Break up single large example into multiple examples, using fab! to maintain performance. On my machine, this speeds up the test slightly, and also makes it more readable.

Restore works fine for multisite, however, stopped working for non-multisite.
Reason for that was that `establish_connection` method got a check if the multisite instance is available:

To solve it, let's ensure we are in a multisite environment before call reload
This fix ensures that searches that contain a null byte return a 400
error instead of causing a 500 error.
For some reason from rspec we will reach the raise statement inside
of the `rescue_from ArgumentError` block, but outside of rspec it will
not execute the raise statement and so a 500 is thrown instead of
reaching the `rescue_from Discourse::InvalidParameters` block inside of
the application controller.
This fix raises Discourse::InvalidParameters directly from the search
controller instead of relying on `PG::Connection.escape_string` to
raise the `ArgumentError`.
The payload when receiving a notification webhook is pointless without
knowing which user the notification is for. This fix adds the user_id to
the notification serializer so that when you receive a notification
webhook you can properly identify which user the notification is for.

Doing .pluck(:column).first is a very common pattern in Discourse and in
most cases, a limit cause isn't being added. Instead of adding a limit
clause to all these callsites, this commit adds two new methods to
ActiveRecord::Relation:
pluck_first, equivalent to limit(1).pluck(*columns).first
and pluck_first! which, like other finder methods, raises an exception
when no record is found
Trying to truncate encoded slugs will mean that we have to keep the URL
valid, which can be tricky as you have to be aware of multibyte
characters.
Since we already have upper bounds for the title, the slug won't grow
for more than title*6 in the worst case. The slug column in the topic
table can store that just fine.
Added a test to ensure that a generated slug is a valid URL too, so we
don't introduce regressions in the future.
Under exceptional situations the automatic draft feature can fail.
This new **hidden, default off** site setting
`backup_drafts_to_pm_length` will automatically backup any draft that is
saved by the system to a dedicated PM (originating from self)
The body of that PM will contain the text of the reply.
We can enable this feature strategically on sites exhibiting issues to
diagnose issues with the draft system and offer a recourse to users who
appear to lose drafts. We automatically checkpoint these drafts every 5
minutes forcing a new revision each 5 minutes so you can revert to old
content.
Longer term we are considering automatically enabling this kind of feature
for extremely long drafts where the risk is really high one could lose
days of writing.
