Sheetpress Cassandra EDC- 650 MAX - FAQ

Q: Does the system include two separate machines (a heated press and a cool press), or is it an all-in-one solution?

By default, both zones are heated. We recommend using the upper zone for cooling.

Q: Where can I find more information like a technical data sheet, manual, or video of the machine?

Q: What are the payment terms? Do you offer options other than advance payment?

Our standard payment term is 70% upfront. We currently do not offer other payment terms.

Q: How do the web interface and Omron PID controllers improve the process? Are they essential?

We highly recommend them. Achieving high-quality results depends on precise timing, pressure, and temperature. A difference of just one degree or one minute can significantly alter the outcome, affecting quality, surface finish, and melt properties. While you can order them later, they are essential for having 100% control over the process to get safe, precise, and repeatable results. They are also vital for documenting settings and exploring new materials.

Q: What are the benefits of digital pressure control? Isn't the mould thickness enough to determine sheet thickness?

No, mould thickness alone is not sufficient. Plastic can shrink significantly (up to 15% at the edges and 2-3mm in thickness). This causes the press to act on the mould instead of the plastic, resulting in warped and rough sheets. Our process now involves a 2 or 3-stage method, which may require inserting a die into the mould after the initial melting time to counteract this.

Q: Can I see photos of the mould? Is it a modular or stackable system?

You can see the mould design here: https://files.polymech.info/files/poly-mech/resources/material/hdpe/assets/washed-2-stage-4/mould/

Please note that we are constantly updating our designs. The latest mould design is chrome-plated and uses roller bearings to snap onto the press plate.

Q: Some pictures show a housing for the press section and a rack in front of the heating section, while others don't. Are these optional or removable?

Yes, the machine is modular. Components like the housing and the front rack can be easily removed and adjusted by the customer as needed.
