Joost's Arbor Press is derived from the original Injection machine design. It addresses two key issues: improving ergonomics to enhance user experience and productivity, and increasing pressure capabilities to expand its functionality. This guide includes downloadable files and instructions for constructing and operating this machine.
Steps
Step 1: Download
Download the package for this machine, which includes:
- 3D CAD files (.step and .f3d)
- Laser cut files (.dxf)
- Blueprints (.pdf)
- Schematics
- Bill of Materials (BOM)
Step 2: Build
Required Skills and Equipment for Machine Building
Skills Needed:
- Metalworking: Cutting, drilling
- Welding
- Machining: Lathe turning
- Milling
- Laser cutting
- Electrical work: Wiring safety switches, installing temperature controllers
- Painting
Machinery and Tools:
- Grinder, chop saw, MIG/MAG or TIG welder, drill press
- Lathe, milling machine (CNC)
- Access to laser cutting (can be outsourced)
Step 3: Inject!
- It is advised to place your machine on a level surface and, for increased stability, secure it to the floor.
- Ensure the use of safety equipment when operating the machine, including heat-resistant gloves, goggles, a gas mask, and safety clothing. A well-ventilated area is also recommended.
- When buying molds, ensure they have a chamfered nozzle (not threaded) to fit properly with the cap nut used for the nozzle.
Step 4: Create, share back and Sell :)
